Thanks for trying out Bastard Bonds! The full game will be available from Bigfingers.ca on April 29 2016.

Tips

Starting out

Do not try to spread your character's development points too thinly. If you haven't learned any skills (Blue pips) then your stats aren't accomplishing anything. You can (and should) have two skills at first level, either by having two skills in the same stat, or one each in two stats that share an axis. This means you could have the first FIGHT skill and the first LABOUR skill, or the first FIGHT skill and the first HUNT skill, but you could not have the first FIGHT skill and the first WARD skill. You can always spread your points out as you level up, but if you aren't strong enough to escape the first dungeon, you'll have a difficult time.

Customizing Character Sprites

Any character with a unique name can have a fully customized sprite.
Create a 80 x 64 png file with hard alpha (no soft fading). Try to keep the character well-centered within the space, and aligned to the bottom of the frame.
Give the png file the same name as the character whose sprite you want to replace, and place it into the "PCCustom" folder in your Bastard Bonds install directory.

The mod is temporary, and will only work for as long as the file exists in the PC Custom folder. To revert the sprite's appearance, just remove the file or rename it.

See "Baako.png" for an example of proper format and placement.

This works with any creature or character, as long as the names match.

If you intend to use a mod with your main character, you may also want to create a nude version of the sprite for use in select cutscenes. Simply place a png of the same name inside the NUDE folder in PCCustom to enable this. If you do not provide a nude version of your modded sprite, the standard version will be used in its place.
